Youth, teens and young adults are involved in the growing
WordPress community as bloggers, content creators,
micro-bloggers, speakers and even developing organizers.

WPJaxKids is inviting students in Duval County Public
Schools, Charter Schools and even private schools to
encourage young people to have fun and enjoy STEAM
projects with William Jackson and Aida Correa. Both are
seasoned WordCamp speakers, volunteers and educators.

Youth are the growing future of digital industries, there is
no one country that has enough knowledge workers to
handle all the necessary jobs that are required.
The world is a knowledge run community not just manual

Youth, teens and young adults are beginning entrepreneurs
through  technology exposure and mentoring. Many have
started their own online businesses and making profits from
being exposed to WordCamp / KidsCamp conferences.

Elisha Taylor III a high school junior in this blog with
Elizabeth and Esther middle school students,  are  seen
with the web sites they have designed from participating
in the WPJax Kids Meetup  and attending  KidsCamp
associated with WordCamp Jax conference,  the next
WCJax conference March 2020 in Jacksonville, Florida

Youth, teens and young adults attending WC conferences
and KidsCamp  are growing into potential  WordCamp
and KidsCamp  conference speakers, organizers  as well
as learning skills that will aid in their career dreams.
WordCamp and KidsCamp conferences are developing
locally, nationally and internationally. The growth is
transformative because youth are learning real world
skills and networking with professionals.

WordCamp conferences are worth the small price for
2 to 3 days of conference exposure with web developers,
coders, programmers, digital innovators, artists and writers.
Changes are going on now that are preparing youth, teens
and young adults for their career aspirations in digital

How important are digital skills, this can be seen in the
understanding that 40% of all web sites globally are created
with the WordPress “open source” digital platform. The skills
of coding, programming, PHP and other scripting languages
is invaluable to be proficient in the expanding digital influences
of Internet based careers even in digital security.

Youth and Teens Need to Attend Global Tech Conferences

Youth and Teens Need to Attend Global Tech Conferences

Elisha Taylor III Intern

KidsCamp conferences in Calgary, Alberta Canada, Costa Rica,
Central America, Managua, Nicaragua, Central America, Africa
and Europe – children, youth, teens and even young adults have
opportunities to be involved in tech conferences to learn valuable
skills that will carry them into career choices.

In collaboration with learning coding, programming and web design,
the integration of Science Technology Engineering Arts Mathematics
is valuable to their future. KidsCamp Calgary shows that globally kids,
youth and teens are learning the importance of collaboration and
applying technology skills, critical and higher order thinking.

Attending conferences allows exposure not just to people, but kids
learn terminology that enhances their ability to communicate on
various intellectual levels. Broadening the language abilities allows
youth, teens and young adults as they grow to sit at the tables of
diverse digital and intellectual tables and not be confused, cut off
from knowledge and understanding. The learning of language is
a path to sitting at the table where decisions are being made, where
representation is not an issue because there is no one present that
will represent those not at the table.

Organizer Christine Workman, Twitter @AmethystAnswers
performed an outstanding job with KidsCamp in WordCampYYC
in Calgary. The attending kids where excited and engaged in activities
of web development and digital exploration. These new skills will be
with the youth for years to help shape and mold decisions for digital
and economic growth.

The expressions of concentration on the kids were evident and the kids
were giddy with excited energy for the days activities of building a web
site using WordPress.com and its free web development options. This
is not new for Calgary, there are other programs for youth, teens and
young adults to expose them to coding, programming, scripting languages
and web development. Role models like Christine and Aurooba Ahmed
Twitter @aurooba are available to inspire, motivate and teach.

The beauty of these conferences are open to indigenous children as
well around the world to broaden the vision of careers, hobbies and learning
the skills of networking and new career choices. WordCamp is an international
conference that embraces diversity, inclusion, innovation and creativity.
Stated by Abdullah Ramzan “The beauty of WordPress (Web Platform)
is that it is made for everyone.” https://mrabdullahramzan.wordpress.com

Developing STEAM initiatives and integrating with Web Development
is not a fab it is a realty for future careers for youth. Organizers for the
KidsCamp in Jacksonville 2019 and KidsCamp in Orlando 2018
William Jackson and Aida Correa create dynamic projects that embrace
the hands-on concept of “Design Theory” and STEAM. There are others
that work hard to make KidsCamp at WordCamp Miami, WordCamp Boston,
WordCamp San Jose and across Africa.

The growth of WordCamp conferences and the implementation of working
with kids and tech conferences being made available for youth, teens and
young adults shows involvement in new areas and inclusiveness in learning
across cultures. Jenni is from the UK and is a manager and web developer
interviewed by Aida, Latina web developer and business owner.

The implementation of The Arts, STEAM, STEM, STREAM and CSTREAM
engagement allows for the building of critical and higher order thinking that
children have naturally, but do not understand how to apply and build on their
brilliance. Tech conferences build personal confidence and provide a direction
for growth.

STEAM camps are happening across the nation and globally as can be seen
in Calgary, Canada and Costa Rica, Central America.Kids, youth, teens and
young adults are demanding to be included in the opportunities that conferences
present. They expect to be included and even asked to be involved in the
activities that are for their peers. In Central America 2019 and 2020

ERICKA BARBOZA @Pastelitocr and LIDIA ARROYO @lidivanarroyo

generations to grow and be technical leaders in their nation.

There are competitions with Lego and Robotics not only happening
in the United States, they are in Costa Rica and Nicaragua in
Central America. Calgary has community orgs like Calgary Chapter

Follow the hashtags #yyc #glcCodeDay to see the great works.
The knowledge that representation does matter for children of color and
culture means they cannot be forgotten and not left behind.
Olivia Twitter @lemonadecode a speaker at WordCampUS is a role model along with others and is already a business owner and digital influencer.

Children must be able to engage in conferences and workshops where
their minds are broadened, their skills are improved and sharpened and
their fear of what is new is overcome. Kids will be competing against each
other as they build their business interests digitally in global ecommerce.
Elisha Taylor III Twitter @ElishaTaylorII1  a junior at Paxon School for
Advanced Studies is a wonderful example his blog is located at
https://journeythroughthemotherboard.wordpress.com he to is a tech conference veteran and the Intern for William (My Quest To Teach) and Aida (Love Built Life).

Exposure is valuable and representation is key to motivating kids to new
levels of thinking in life. Parents must allow their children to participate in
conferences to build skills for future employment. Sports and entertainment
come with inherent risks, but education is only risky when it is discounted,
rejected and laughed at. Children need to learn how to network, collaborate,
cooperate and work with the diversity the world has to offer. Tech provides
building a world of discovery and innovation, and working together
to accomplish goals and building future dreams in careers, business
and as entrepreneurs. Global WordCamps can be found here

Parents must prepare their children to move beyond manual
labor jobs and into new levels of thought leadership career
paths that create leadership opportunities, management
opportunities, financial stability and the opportunity to travel the
world. Even if parents are blue-collar workers and in
careers that have inherent limitations does not mean their
children should be nor do they need to be thrust into similar
conditions. Education is the great equalizer and empowering.
Children of color must be exposed to the diversity of the world
in order to function in a diverse and inclusive world even if
that inclusion is fought for.

One of the challenges for many children, especially children
of color and indigenous backgrounds is that many do not get
out of their neighborhoods to explore the world around them.
They seem to be stuck with no exposure to the future and this
creates “dream deserts” where children don’t dream about
new careers and opportunities.

The scariest thing for children is to state they have no
dreams, no aspirations and no goals beyond just living and
surviving, this must never be allowed to continue. Indigenous
youth, teens and young adults have so much to offer in their
communities and must be encouraged and even sponsored
to be participants not just looking through windows of privileged
and prejudice being excluded and ignored.

Technology is helping humans to solve many of life’s challenges.
Children need to be part of the solutions to solve human challenges,
environmental threats, and complex environmental changes.
Embracing intellectualism, being a thought leader, gifted, talented,
creative and innovative should be celebrated and encouraged.

“Message for WordPressers: If you seriously want to do something
for yourself, do something for others first. Go for open source,
you’ll surely learn how to code. You’ll learn how to work in a team.
Join local meetups, meet with the folks: help them, learn from them
and share ideas.”

Central American and African Children Need to Attend STEAM and Tech Conferences

Computers and technology are  forever changing the thinking
of youth,  teens and young adults especially children of Central
America and Africa. There is no denying the influence of digital
platforms, tools and Apps that are accessible on the Internet.
We are living in a revolution of digital engineering, exploration
and innovation. Technology is allowing children to become
digital influencers at an early age and growing into agents of
social, cultural, economic and intellectual change.
Generations of youth, teens and young adults are the digital
natives, digital innovators, digital pioneer.

Digital Natives on the average ages 12 to 32 spend hours creating
content that is transformative and influential. They are engaged
and involved. Digital natives will never know a time when they
were not and are not connected to the Internets’ vast resources
of information.

Children and youth need to learn the value of a digital global
perspective of the world, because their content is being shared
nationally and internationally, they must learn to function in digital
worlds and outside of them.

Future of Costa Rica
Future of Costa Rica

Children are not the future consumers, they are the NOW
consumers and the influencers. They are also producers
that create change so the title “Agents of Change” are serious
directions that can yield great power and great influence.

Youth, teens and young adults are discussing social issues nationally
to gain attention and awareness to what they think is important
because of the empowerment of the Internet they are being  heard
from Central America to the African continent.

Parents must be able to teach, model and investigate the accuracy
and truth of content their children consume and post. Their voices
should not be an ECHO, but should be original and authentic. Kids and
youth being the digital citizens and innovators of today are surpassing
their parents in knowledge  about issues that need problem solvers
now, not waiting decades to address issues and problems that are
creating global changes.

Digital Learning in Costa Rica
Digital Learning in Costa Rica

Conferences like WordCamp and KidsCamp build a foundation of
awareness and inspire learning. The fastest growing nations for
kid and youth conferences are  on the continents of Africa and
Central America. WordCamp and KidsCamp are overflowing
with attendees and their parents.

Conferences in Central America are increasing with WordCamp Nicaragua,
Panama, Costa Rica  and soon Guatemala Belize, Honduras and El Salvador.
WordCamp conferences are available each year for adults, and as the interest
grows youth, teens and young adults will see kids and youth conferences
suited for their needs,  to help them build digital access for collaboration
and to create their own businesses.

Uganda Bloggers
Uganda Bloggers

Africa has similar events, WordCamp Harare, Lagos, Entebbe and
Port Harcourt, Kenya, Nigeria, Uganda, Egypt; there will be others as
interest grows.  The continent needs these conferences  and others
to inspire youth and teens to be  the influencers needed to build their
nations by thought leadership, intellectual design, digital innovation
and creative  selections because youth, teens and young adults
will be competing globally while collaborating nationally.

Education at all levels will have to embrace STEAM initiatives to teach, mentor,
guide and empower children to lead their nations into the 22nd century and
beyond. If Central American and African nations do not continue to prepare
generations to be the digital leaders they need. They will truly be cast into
the realms of nations passed over and continued to be in third world or
lower status. They will not have the ability to take their nations into global
financial strength because their children and each generation will not be
prepared to lead.

KidsCamp and Youth Camp in Africa
KidsCamp and Youth Camp in Africa

Parents are taking advantage of conference opportunities to encourage
their children to attend events and networking opportunities. Exposure
to critical and higher order thinking learning that is needed. Youth and
teens future career choices are influenced to help develop the tech
visionaries that each nation in Central America and on the African
continent will need to grow their economies in new and diverse directions.

The explosion of STEAM and Web Development is becoming the new norm
for learning. If Central American and African nations want their children to
be future influencers, decision makers, venture capitalists, investors,
mentors  they must provide for the conferences  to bless their children.

Part 3 Weaponizing Information To Control Hearts and Minds

My Quest To Teach

Part 3 Weaponizing Information To Control Hearts and Minds
William Jackson, M.Ed.

Weaponizing your voice
Weaponizing your voice

Digital content is adaptable and inclusive to text, video and
audio content. The value of the content is its ability to empower
and inspire others. To open the mind to the potential to reach
and teach broader audiences and encourage collaborations
and allowing journalistic tools to be applied.

As a past higher education instructor I would have my students
think on a global scale and have a global perspective of the
world. They have knowledge that should be shared to build
connections and collaborations. Not to encourage separation
and ignorance. Unfortunately, the idea that people of color
should not and could not think on such a scale is at times
etched in the minds of children of color, this prevents them
from dreaming beyond their current positions in life especially
if the are in poverty of finances, educational access,
intellectual stimulation and cultural growth.

In the era of digital access to unparalleled informational platforms,
services, resources. news, and unprecedented cultural connections
there should not be a waste of time on mindless entertainment
or just visually appealing eye candy of pornography and
death of cultures and generations. Information that is weaponized
blinds people to embracing cultures, genders and generations.

Use of the transformative resources of digital tools can open new
doors for engagement across generational lines, gender, life-styles
and social-economic backgrounds.
In the 21st century youth, teens and young adults can grow their
digital and social skill-sets. Digital journalism allows anyone to be
a journalist and connect their passions with others that share the
same interests of positive growth and unity.

In recent years political leaders have vilified journalist and even
encouraged the killing of them. The rights to free speech, free
expression, free thinking, have been turned around to mean that
a free mind is dangerous, rebellious and devious. Weaponizing
information is a process to keep the same content in the eyes,
ears and voices to keep people from learning and applying
new learning that allows for growth, understanding and acceptance.

America is dangerously embracing a mind-set that it fought against in
World War 1 and World War 2, but now accepts similar destructive
ideologies directed to gender, color, culture, educational and economic
status. Since when it it ok to speak to women disrespectfully and
in a demeaning manner. Since when do men turn a blind eye to
slandering a women’s reputation knowing that same individual can
turn on their daughters, granddaughters or nieces. It is interesting
that men can sell their souls to keep political power at the sacrifice
of literally killing children and imprisoning them, while at the same
time denying them basic human rights. Allowing women no matter
their culture or color to be de-humanized by not providing proper
medical care, human rights and humanitarian efforts of being
clean, feed, cared for and protected no matter what nationality
they are.

The power of digital media through technologies can change the very
fabric of building relationships that can be cultivated by strategically
placing content on digital platforms.

Malcolm X statement in the early 1960’s can be applied even
today in our growing and maturing digital world. “If your not careful,
the media will have you loving those that hate you and hating those
that love you.”
