Porn A Disappointing Reality for Teens, A Nightmare for Parents

Technology has allowed youth, teens and young adults access
to photos, videos, chat and interactive play areas. Access to
interactive content is a billion dollar industry that has grown from
the old store displays and magazines, graphic novels, and other
literature that was once hidden out of site or packaged with the
covers either torn in half or covered with paper except for the titles.

Back in the day there was youthful embarrassment asking for
these mags and has been replaced with online content that is
more than just eye candy. The wide openness of the Internet
means just that, content is wide open, in your face, graphical
and in your face, yes I did say that twice because kids are
shown soft porn or innuendo even in “kid” and “teen” movies.

The resulting rise in realism also means a rise in the boys and
girls curiosity that are viewing porn on their phones, tablets,
laptops and desktops. Yes girls look at porn also, they talk about
content with their friends both boyfriends and girlfriends.

The prevalence of the viewing and listening of porn, has resulted
in the firing of judges, police officers, teachers, lawyers, military
personnel and even those having high levels in government,.
Home Land Security is investigating porn of multiple levels found
on work computers and other digital devices in corporations and
even the military.

Since borders have no boundaries not many people think this
would be something for Home Land Security, but it is. Porn affects
the actions of youth, teens and young adults which could be
dangerous to those in their circle of friends and family. Affecting
behaviors and relationships. Youth are influenced that sex can
fill a gap in their lives and multiple partners at a young age is ok
and expected.

When queries are made about porn on the Internet data by
https://www.webroot.com/ shows that search engines are in a
constant state of digital engagement to find requested data.
Webroot.com/
https://www.webroot.com/us/en/resources/tips-articles/
internet-pornography-by-the-numbers

Every day according to data
37 pornographic videos are created in the United States.
2.5 billion emails containing porn are sent or received.
68 million search queries related to pornography
25% of total searches- are generated.
116,000 queries related to child pornography are received.

This information seems disturbing, but there is more…
As a parent, educator and blogger researching this information
and ease of finding porn in videos, photos, anime, animated
cartoons, and other types of digital information. These sites
glamorize porn, the reality is there is a dangerous underside
that youth, teens and young adults do not see. They do not
see the manipulation, deception, medical consequences and
the destruction of family morals and values.

Sex trafficking is heavily tied to porn because youth are shown
there is a movie star level of being in movies and photo-shoots.
There are legal markets, but the underground or Black market
of porn is dangerous and deadly. It can seem to be fun, mysterious
and economically viable to the ignorance of youth, but STD’s, AIDS
and other diseases and viruses are potentially spread from person
to person in these sexual markets. The glamour quickly fades to
terror and fear as boys and girls are made to have sex with multiple
partners.

There are correlations between porn and human trafficking that
parents need to understand and talk to their children both boys
and girls about. Roughly half of the sample group (including men,
women, and children) were used to make pornography films.
80% of those who have been freed from human trafficking were
forced to re-enact specific acts of pornography by the people who
enslaved them.

The majority of these victims are taught how to “perform” via
pornographic material. https://everaccountable.com/blog/the-link-
between-pornography-and-human-trafficking/
“the porn industry,
which fuels the demand for human sex trafficking, the fastest-growing
business of organized crime in the world, receiving more visitors
each month than Netflix, Amazon, and Twitter combined?”
Porn Human Trafficking Reinforce Each Other
https://www.nationalreview.com/2018/08/porn-human-trafficking-
reinforce-each-other/

There is a disappointing reality when involved in porn because
in some cases youth, teens and young adults are not taught about
sex by their parents or guardians. Youth, teens and even young
adults get their information from friends. Sexual relationships,
emotional consequences and the value of personal body respect
and sexual safety in many cases are not talked about by parents.

There is no cultural, ethnic, economic, educational or gender
level, most parents only touch on the birds and the bees, not so
much as the emotional responsibilities, ethical consequences
and behavioral changes that may occur when having sexual
relationships with multiple people.

Porn affects Americans in ways that interfere with family,
friends, work and other relationships. The data presented
in Webroot again shows:
About 200,000 Americans are classified as “porn addicts.”
40 million American people regularly visit porn sites.
35% of all internet downloads are related to pornography.
34% of internet users have experienced unwanted exposure
to pornographic content through ads, pop up ads, misdirected
links or emails.
One-third of porn viewers are women.

This begs to encourage parents to talk to their children about
the perceptions, mis-perceptions, ideas, thoughts about sex
and sexual relationships. Parents should talk to their family
doctors and even law enforcement personnel about porn and
associated sites that are open on the Internet that allow direct
access.

The intellectual, emotional and even spiritual results have
consequences that do affect youth to young adults.
Lastly stated from Webroot.com/
*”It creates distorted expectations which hinder healthy
sexual development. Adolescents exposed to high levels of
pornography have lower levels of sexual self-esteem.
Keeping the conversation going with your child about the
effects of pornography is essential to heading off issues
like depression and low self-esteem.”

Parents should not be scared to view what is on their
children’s phones, especially since the parent is paying
for the service and will be held accountable for what is
on the device especially if it is shared with other minors.

Protecting your children as a parent means educating
both parents, children and the community. To recognize
the signs of porn, potential sex trafficking and
other dangerous sexual situations youth, teens and young
adults maybe caught in.

2020 The Need for Indigenous Youth to Attend Global Tech Conferences
William Jackson, M.Ed. #MyQuestToTeach

Indigenous Youth In Africa
Indigenous Youth In Africa

Technology conferences are offering incentives for youth,
teens and  young adults to attend conferences. Events like
FlBlogCon, WordCamp, SXSW, EdCamp, BarCamp and others
are happening globally.
They are providing SWAG that attract the attention of
youth, teens and young adults.  These are great marketing
strategies to encourage and attract youth,  teens and
young adults from indigenous communities that are
sometimes forgotten and neglected.

History has not been kind nor generous to indigenous
peoples, in the world. There is access to instant
communication, wifi, digital Apps, Social Media platforms,
there are so many ways to connect, but access to learning
and networking opportunities is minimal or
unavailable. Experts to the needs of indigenous youth
are not always available so needs go unfilled.

In 2020 this should be changing because indigenous youth,
teens and young adults are dreaming of a better life for
them and their families.
They see the opportunities that technology is offering and
encouraging them to reach for the sky, the stars, the planets
and beyond. Let it be known that indigenous people are
people of color, culture, gender, generation and great
contributors globally.

Indigenous Youth In Canada
Indigenous Youth In Canada

From Canada, to Central America, to Africa, to Europe and
Asia youth, teens and young adults have unprecedented
opportunities to be involved in tech conferences to learn
valuable skills that will carry them into future career
choices to be entrepreneurs and create their own careers
to help their cultures grow and prosper.  Digital  influencers
are not just white faces they are the beautiful hues of color
and shades of  our world.

America does not have the resources to continue to be the
only global technology powerhouse, globally things are
changing and America is feeling the effects. In collaboration
to learning code, PHP, scripting languages, programming and
web design, the integration of Science Technology Engineering
Arts Mathematics is necessary to build skills-sets for the
future to help address and solve challenges that are faced
daily by human existence.

Youth and teens are gradually learning the importance of
applying technology skills to build on critical and higher
order thinking.
Enhancing their combining of creative and innovative
processing of information to influence future digital
adaptations in robotics, re-newable energy resources,
working with nature not against natural forces that are
available. In many cases indigenous youth have learned
from their elders and nature to survive with the land,
but many lessons are being lost because the land has
and is still being taken away.

Indigenous Youth In Asia
Indigenous Youth In Asia

Youth attending conferences allows exposure not just to
people, youth learn terminologies that enhance their
ability to communicate on intellectual levels. Broadening
language abilities allows youth, teens and young adults as
they grow to sit at the tables of diverse digital and intellectual
tables and not be threatened by the lack of knowledge
and understanding. Comprehending is key to being able
to contribute to the discussion of building digital networks
and creating PLC – Professional Learning Communities and
Professional Learning Networks.

Indigenous youth, teens and young adults represent their
cultural heritage and build learning opportunities and speak
their languages. Representation matters in STEAM, Tech,
Social Media and in Digital Innovation. When indigenous
youth see themselves involved outside of their communities
they are encouraged and empowered to alter
their thinking.

WordCamp in Africa
WordCamp in Africa

The learning of digital languages is a path to decision making
where representation is not an issue because there are those
present that are of gender, color and culture. Those sitting at
the tables of digital business and commerce look like the youth
in neighborhoods dreaming of owning their own business and
aspiring to make global changes.

The growth of conferences guarantees that youth are engaged
in activities of digital creativity and digital exploration. New
skills learned and applied will be with youth for years to help
shape and mold decisions for digital and economic growth in
the communities these youth live.

Globally the uniqueness of conferences are open to indigenous
children around the world. Providing opportunities for them to
see there are choices and chances in life to broaden their vision
of careers, hobbies and learning the skills of networking and
developing generational wealth.

Digital Jobs Globally
Digital Jobs Globally

WordCamps are global conferences that embrace diversity,
inclusion, innovation and creativity. Stated by Abdullah Ramzan
Twitter @Software_abi “The beauty of WordPress (Web Platform)
is that it is made for everyone.”

In Africa, Asia and Central America, India there are conferences
that teach from the very basics to the more advanced in HTML,
E-commerce, marketing, branding and cyber-security.
The steady and rapid growth of wireless technologies are building infrastructures that will carry indigenous peoples into the next
decade as it grows into its’ place in digital innovation where the
people will be the next natural resource for creativity and
innovation not just the land itself.

Future of Costa Rica
Future of Costa Rica

Digital innovators are thriving in Africa, Asia, Central America,
India and even Australia, growth is expanding opportunities to
influence financial markets.  Organizers for WordCamp  and
KidsCamp represent their communities, cultures, colors
and generations.  They are influencing new generations to
grow and be technical leaders in their regions of  the world.
Digital growth in Mexico, South America, Central America
is phenomenal this includes Panama and Nicaquagua:
these nations cannot be left out Guatemala, Belize,
Honduras and El Salvador.
Their greatest resources are the people.

Indigenous children must be able to engage in conferences
and workshops where their minds are broadened, their
skills are improved and sharpened and their fear of
what is new is overcome. Kids will be competing against
each other as they build their business interests
digitally before they are adults.

Exposure is valuable and representation is key to
motivating indigenous youth both girls and boys to new
levels of thinking in life. Parents must allow their
children to participate in conferences to build skills
for future employment. Children need to learn how
to network, collaborate, cooperate and work with
the diversity the world has to offer.

Too many indigenous youth are denied access, opportunities,
creative growth and innovative inspiration, this decade is an
opportunity to change this. Tech provides building a world
of discovery and innovation, and working together to
accomplish goals and building future dreams in
careers, business as entrepreneurs. Global WordCamps
can be found here
https://central.wordcamp.org/ many support youth,
teens and young adults in attending.

Indigenous Youth in Central America
Indigenous Youth in Central America

The building of digital leaders in countries is encouraging,
many are youth, teens and young adults themselves.
The chance to inspire our beautiful, innovative, creative
and smart indigenous generation is growing.
The world needs indigenous youth to be as smart as they
can be, as creative and as innovative as their talents allow.
The world cannot allow the brilliance and intellectual ability
of indigenous youth, teens and young adults to go to waste
because these youth, teens and  young adults are
important to our world.

Through conferences like WordCamp and corresponding
KidsCamp provide the foundation to mentor and model,
representation does matter for youth of color and culture.
If they see people that look like them, they will aspire and
dream to be like them and more.

Representation Matters for Indigenous Youth!!!

2020 Anointing Message To Fathers

Father and Son

2020 Anointing Message To Fathers
William Jackson, M.Ed.
San Jose Church of Christ
Jacksonville, Florida

The Last Supper
The Last Supper

Going into the New Year 2020 if they have not done so already
Pastors, Bishops, Apostles, Priests and others of religious and
ministerial faiths should pray over fathers.

Now more than ever in history we all need spiritual guidance, wisdom,
protection and learn how to be humble and obedient to the Holy Spirit.
As a father, educator and mentor, I want to inspire and motivate fathers,
step-fathers, grandfathers, fathers to be, divorced fathers and
even absentee fathers, men who are guardians and even those
classified as sperm donors: to be the best men their families, children,
communities, and churches need.

If changes are needed to take the journey to be the positive
and spiritual change that is needed then men should take
the journey seriously and be honest and submissive to the
Spirit of God. Difficult times and many challenges are
around us; spiritually, economically, educationally,
environmentally and politically.

As men we should be taking the lead in the direction to
move to care for our loved ones, our communities and
supporting our churches / ministries.
Fathers have a historical responsibility and spiritual
accountability to place their families above their
personal needs. Fathers cannot nor should not be
selfish in love for family, devotion to God, giving to
community and mentoring to youth, teens and
young adults. These things as men should
pray  and act on to improve themselves.

As an educator over 30 years in elementary and higher
education, mentor and involved in my community the
lack of engagement by men is cursing our
communities. The levels of death, destruction and
decay are evidenced by the lack of involvement of
men involved in schools, community events, public
displays of love and affection to their communities
and families.

Father and Son
Father and Son

Here are a few lessons learned over the years as an educator
and involved in my community.

1. Fathers need to go to Jesus in prayer and pray with their
children and families. Leading prayer as the leader of the
household coming before God in humbleness and praise.

2. Fathers, make mistakes, but own up to them and correct
the mistakes they have made. Working not to repeat them and
modeling responsibility. Fathers teach your children that no
one is perfect, there was only one perfect person
and that was Christ. When a mistake is made own up to it
and ask for forgiveness.

3. Fathers, discipline children with love and not with physical
violence, verbal degradation or emotional manipulation.
Correction should be as the Lord corrects
us with patience, love and direction.

4. Fathers, take children/families to church and bible study to
receive the Word of God and meditate on the words to empower,
inspire and strengthen the family unit. Fathers are the leaders
and set the tone for attending regularly service and to be of
service in the ministry and the community.

5. Fathers, are not perfect and should not try to be perfect,
ask God for wisdom, direction and discernment. Do not seek
to be with those that curse the name of God and even men
that cheat on their wives and abandon their families. They
should be prayed for and directed to receive help and love.

6. Fathers, don’t blame others for weakness, but work to
strengthen themselves in the Word of God through prayer
and reading of scripture for understanding and application in life.

7. Fathers, do not “follow the guys” when they are disrespecting
women, this sets an inappropriate and dangerous model for
their sons to follow. Think about how your daughters and
granddaughters would feel if put in these situations.

8. Fathers, don’t block children’s anointing with ungodly actions
and modeling that may be repeated by their children as they
mature into adults. Be careful of the sins that you do because
your children may be prone to commit them.

9. Fathers, ask for discernment to recognize the signs of
trouble, chaos and confusion before they happen.
David and Solomon prayed to God for wisdom and knowledge,
God answered their prayers. Fathers need to go forth and pray
for that they think they will need with a humble heart and
obedience.

10. Fathers, model respect for the spirit of the church
and the leaders of the church representation.
Ministry is not about who is holier than others, who
can pray the loudest, who can dress the best, it is
about our personal relationship with the Lord.

11. Fathers, lead grace/prayer at meal time and anoint their children with
oil of love, peace, humbleness to God. Fathers must lead by design and
with authority. Authority shows the humbleness of the Lord and obedience
to scripture.

12. Fathers, should be able to purchase their daughters personal items
and be proud in doing so. Setting a standard of respect, pride and
responsibility for the young lady he protects and loves.
A father submitting to his responsibility also models for his daughters
how another man should treat his daughter and granddaughter.

13. Fathers, promote education in the household. Reading should come
before video games, television or playtime. No matter the educational
level fathers should show their children the value of education and
learning.

14. Fathers, talk to their children about drugs and sex before the street
or television does.
There are so many lies about love, sex, drugs, that parents needs to be
consistent with their works, deeds and action.

15. Fathers, do not whine about what “HIS” daddy did not do for him,
but follow a model indicative of Godly men and accountability. No one
has/had a perfect father, you can be the father that your
children and families need.

16. Fathers, do not blame where he came from for his short-comings.
He focuses on where he is going in a positive direction.
The journey is not about arriving at the destination, but about
the travel. To be a blessing to others on the way, to teach, preach,
mentor, advocate, witness and evangelize.

17. Fathers, takes time to visit their children’s school and talk to teachers
about their children’s progress, strengths, and challenges. Fathers search
for solution, truths, building of hope and faith.

18. Fathers, will happily sacrifice for their family, showing how
God’s love sacrificed for all of us.
A father understands that his faithfulness, his prayers, his suffering,
his sacrifices are seen by the Lord and he will be blessed.

19. Fathers, accept responsibility for their children’s actions and
behaviors. Remembering that “the apple does not fall far from the
tree.” Fathers recognize and work to stop generational curses so
a new and positive direction is made for his children.

20. Fathers, will visit their children and spend time with them even
though he may not be present in the home. A true father takes
responsibility for a life that they helped create and a true
mother/woman allows the father to do this and puts her feelings
aside to allow a father to be a father.

21. Fathers, aren’t afraid to show love to their children, children
still need reinforcement that they are loved and respected by
their father. Love cannot be bought, bartered, compromised,
sold, exchanged. Love is a action word and actions
speak louder than words. The Lord loved us so much that he
gave His only begotten son so that we may life.

22. Fathers, spend time just being together with their children and
doing things their children like and will remember doing. Memories
last longer then any amount of money a man has.

23. Fathers, teach your child to be responsible and accountable for
their actions. Not to blame others for their actions or think they
are owed anything by anyone. Respect is always earned.

24. Fathers must teach and model respect to women for their sons
and respect to men by their daughters.
Sex must be taken seriously not as a game or a competition,
violence is not acceptable by men or women. Fathers must lead
in the understanding of this.
A father must teach his son that there is more to life
than conquests, life is about service and being a servant.

25. Fathers must teach respect, honor, and fear of the Lord.

Quote:
A truly humble man is sensible of his natural
distance from God; of his dependence on Him;
of the insufficiency of his own power and wisdom;
and that it is by God’s power that he is up held
and provided for, and that he needs God’s wisdom
to lead and guide him, and His might to enable
him to do what he ought to do for Him.

Technology encourages and engages users, developers,
coders, bloggers, content managers and digital innovators
to share information.
Their passion resonates the joy of learning and to spark an
interest in tech fields that create business owners and
entrepreneurs. 2020 will be a decade of phenomenal
growth in digital innovation across generations.

As an educator I encourage students from elementary to
higher education to be involved with their parents in WordCamp
and KidsCamp conferences.
They would do well to participate and attend conferences like
WordCamp, BarCamp, EdCamp and other tech events to learn
the language of the business, technology and community.
Language develop is used in “Code Switching” (language skills)
to speak in diverse situations.

How to communicate and carry a conversation is valuable in a
world that is knowledge based and global. The ability to
communicate is key, absorbing, digesting, regurgitating
information in an industry that welcomes and encourages
diversity and inclusion. Inclusivity is not just attending it means
making contributions to help others grow, it means volunteering,
organizing and taking leadership roles.

Tech conferences like WordCamp allows for content engagement
to allow networking, sharing knowledge and experiences.
Broadcasting platforms that transform Podcasting and Video
Blogging as useful tools to amplify a message, thoughts and
engagements. Attending tech conferences builds skills to
amplify messages that share community activism and the
increase need for effective community engagement and change.

2020 is developing for authentic stories, authentic thought
and increased engagement in communities on Social Media
platforms and Web sites that share information that should
promote progress, The growing demand for digital innovation,
digital exploration and digital experiences to use digital
tools that allow for business growth, business collaboration
and global influences.

There are many Digital Innovators of diversity in age, gender,
generation, color and culture that have ideas that should be
encouraged and fueled. WordCamp conferences help fuel the
desire for knowledge, skills and abilities, talents to grow beyond
expectations and desires. The future innovators for their
communities will share content that promotes community
growth, community strength, community re-birth in a mental
frame of mind for exploration, discovery and even research.

Technology encourages the use of devices that are mobile,
connected and progressive. There are always pieces that can
have connectivity to access information. Building community
Bloggers, VBloggers, Podcasters are the storytellers that are
changing the paradigm of information exchange.
The meshing to individual and collective stories are a combination
of digital footprints trailblazing and exploring new avenues to
connect people and create change.

Connections are digital, global, influential and flowing with
new opportunities. Adventure awaits for those that embrace
innovation and creativity. 2020 is a new decade of discovery,
direction and discipline needed to move to levels of engagement
and exploration.

Speaking to graphic artists, coders, developers, programmers
and business owners about being “Dope” on social media
platforms is exciting and a visionary innovation. My first
WC speaking was at WordCampILM in Wilmington, N.C.
The hope that I have is to inspire people and companies
to contribute to the growth and development of youth,
teens and young adults as mentors, volunteers and
sponsors in and out of the WordPress and Open Source
community.
My 32 years as a PE Teacher, STEAM Teacher and advocate
for equality and equitability motivate me to share my
WordCamp and KidsCamp experiences nationally and even
internationally.

WordCamp  conferences seek out experts in diverse fields
of technology that implement WordPress. The web platform
that is increasingly being used for web design, Podcasts,
Blogging, and other online applications that content creators
are using.
Since my first WordCamp attending, being WordCamp Orlando
I have advocated for HBCU institutions to send their students.
I have even taken several students with me and students
from the local school system here in Jacksonville.

Cultural, gender and even generational diversity has been
growing in the tech industry and it shows when bloggers,
teachers, and community activist and artists are invited
to speak about not only their use of Social Media platforms
and tools, but how to inspire others to become content
creators.

Men and women of color need to see others that represent
them in tech, to show that there are viable careers and
mentors available to help guide youth, teens and
young adults.

Business men and women of color only represent
less than 5% of tech businesses in the United States.
More does need to be done, but education is key and
next is mentorship and involvement.

Understanding the importance of research skills and
applying the appropriate  information to build
understanding is important.  Helping youth, teens and
young adults like Elisha Taylor III a junior in high school
and even middle school students like Elijah a 6th grader
to build their PLC and PLN communities.

They are preparing for careers success now.
Businesses are always using data, statistics and
analyzing now to use information to make money
and increase profits. Technology is still an evolving
entity that fluctuates when new technology comes
into play and old technology dies away. As markets
are increased people of color and culture must get
engaged and involved in tech fields growing
by digital leaps and bounds.

The networking potential at WordCamps are
phenomenal and the sharing of knowledge,
resources and personnel helps to build families
of Nerds and Geeks seeking to build or design
new applications or web tools or Apps.
The opportunities are there to be influencers!!

New terms of I and E – trepreneurs are being
developed to show the level of interactivity and
engagement as new players, visionaries and even
businesses come to play and be seen. Several
things learned are, the curse of  technology
knowledge and mastery is that, “whenever you
can’t remember when you did not know
something shows that tech is changing and
adapting to the needs of society and the future
integration that creates dynamic digital influences.”

Because of the embracing to diversity in color,
culture, gender and generation the community
begins to grow and expand.  WordCamp conferences
are looking like the communities they are influencing
and there are growing Kids and Youth Camps
nationally and internationally.
