2021 – Reflections of Growth Even During an Age of
Pre-Pandemic and Current Retrospective to our
Communities as Influencers

2020 was unexpected in many ways, as bloggers, content creators,
professional educators and community servants the degrees of
growth still were there and blessing our communities.
Aida and I even were married during the pandemic and we thank
the Lord for the safety of our children, grandchildren, parents
and other family members. We are appreciative to our church
family a San Jose Church of Christ in Jacksonville, Florida.

Since being involved in the WordPress community Aida (2018)
and I (2016) have had the pleasure, enjoyment and blessings of
traveling to Canada, Central America and across the United States
of America. We have built a family of dynamic men, women, youth,
teens and young adults as we speak about the wonders of STEM, STEAM,
and STREAM that are influencing career choices for Black, Brown
and Indigenous children.

The pressures of teaching physical and health education online as
a professional educator. Teaching students from kindergarten to
fifth grade. Preparing lesson plans, using internet resources and
even collaboration with other teachers to provide worthwhile
lessons.  These are challenges facing teachers in the educational
profession in public, private, parochial and charter schools. All
teachers are a priority in our world, they shape, mold and influence
children’s lives forever. Educators should always be appreciated,
loved, respected and prayed for.

The canceling of WordCamp and KidsCamp conferences that provide
a wealth of information, resources to help men and women, youth, teens
and even  young adults to start new careers in digital technologies
that are being applied today more than ever.  We salute everyone
involved in the WordPress and WordCamp community. Many are
business owners, entrepreneurs and pioneers in technology.

Converting to virtual attendance and learning new skills to present,
speak, share, collaborate and express creativity, innovation and
cooperation in business and as an entrepreneur. The amazing and
challenging changes ironically have been broadcast in movies, books
and SciFi episodes, the reality of fantasy is now. The best example
is the book “The Stand” https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Stand
there are others, the list is growing for books, movies and documentaries
detailing past pandemic events and even those that have not happened

Pre-pandemic, Aida and I earned the opportunity to be Ford VIP
Connect Ford Bloggers, a great experience and built our abilities to grow
the influences of our content to build communities locally and nationally.
Being members of the African American and Afro-Latina community of
Black, Brown and Indigenous communities we hope our story inspires,
ignites the creativity, innovation, excitement of learning and exploration of
life and living.

Aida a respected florist, author, poet, higher education professor,
developer of “A Seat at the Table” WordCamp discussion has been

significant contributions in fields of technology and society.
Aida has provided free workshops in Jacksonville from the public
libraries to community organizations, The Microsoft Store and other
venues that need her artistic enthusiasm, zest and zeal for life and
embracing diversity of color and culture.

I have been involved in the WordPress community since 2015 and
enjoy the comradery, friendship, partnerships and exposure.
Encouraging along with my wife the increased involvement of
youth, teens and young adults in the community to learn
valuable skills that will be needed in our growing digital futures.

Both of us love our communities,  friendships and extended family

Hispanic Heritage Project Award Winners in Duval County Public Schools

Hispanic Heritage Project Award Winners in Duval County Public Schools
William Jackson, M.Ed. and Aida Correa
Students from Twin Lake Academy Middle School participated
in a project by STEM teacher William Jackson and his fiancé
Aida Correa (Afro-Latina) that helped to highlight the contributions
of Hispanics, Latinx, and those of Latin backgrounds and their
contributions in careers as doctors, lawyers, law enforcement,
astronauts, engineers and other high tech careers.
This project was in coordination to Hispanic Heritage Month,
September to October.

During the students research they found significant contributions
of people of Hispanic and Latinx backgrounds here in Jacksonville,
Florida. There are many in professional positions that many are not
aware of and making wonderful contributions that help Jacksonville
build to be a progressive city that welcomes cultural diversity and technological growth.

The students wrote essays that shared what they wanted to be
when they grow  up. Sharing their career aspirations and the need
for STEM, STEAM and STREAM learning in school. Mr. Jackson the
Science, Technology Engineering and Math teacher uses Design
and Modeling with Project Lead The Way.

The project required students to write about their future careers
and why they wanted to have those careers, how their career options
would help people and communities locally and around the world
and select through Internet searches a person of Latinx, Hispanic
and those of Latin backgrounds that have the same career that is living.

Sixth grade student Alex who wants to be a Physical Education
teacher got in contact with the Physical Education Department
of Duval County Public Schools
and connected with Edgar Pabon, M.Ed. the Health and Physical
Education Specialist at the district office. Alex stated that,
“it means a lot to see someone Hispanic as a leader in the schools,
it inspires me to work to be a PE teacher here in Jacksonville.”

The project also had the students identify how Hispanics, Latinx
and others are making contributions here in Jacksonville, in Florida
and across the country. An important part of the project was to select Hispanics that are alive and why it is important for this nation to accept
Black, Brown and people of color and culture.

The students watched YouTube videos about the contributions of
Hispanics in the United States, how and why Hispanic Heritage
Month was started and its influence on the perceptions people
have of Hispanic lives.

Students in his 6th, 7th and 8th grade classes all participated and shared
their writings with other students. Students  6th graders Daria, Miranda, Narissa,  Ricardo and Jacob in the photo earned A’s in the project and
awarded Tshirts  and certificates from technology companies that
William and his fiancé Aida Correa work with while participating in
WordCamp technology conferences.

Next projects will be with SPACEX and NASA, using parachutes to
learn about the space program and international space station.

Seven Continents of Faith for Churches of Christ

Social Media and the Church of Christ

Seven Continents of Faith
Sponsored by Let The Bible Speak TV
Church of Christ and Social Media

Let The Bible Speak TV Jos Nigeria
Let The Bible Speak TV

The intent of this project (Seven Continents of Faith) is to
share the faith of our youngest members in the Church of
Christ around the world. To encourage and empower
children, youth, teens and young adults.

There are seven continents and each one has  Church of
Christ ministries evangelizing and sharing the Gospel of
Christ. SCF is an opportunity to allow children, youth, teens
and young adults to share how their faith has kept them
centered and focused in faith during the global pandemic.

The prayer is that youth, teens and young adults submit
writings to share their faith in living during the pandemic.
COVID19 has created so many changes in the world the
major changes are isolation and social distancing.

Humans are designed to interact with each other, to share
their experiences and live together. Children, youth, teens
and young adults are especially affected. SCF is asking our
youth to share their stories to encourage others. Sharing
their faith is what scriptures asks of us.

Social distancing in society and soon in schools has profound
effects on mental health and spiritual resiliency. The family
structure will forever be changed and even how worship
will be conducted.

The effects of COVID19 are global showing that people
everywhere share the similar experiences. Children, youth,
teens and young adults have a story that many want to tell.
SCF is a chance for ages 5 to 18 to share their stories with
others globally about their faith being a member of the body
of Christ.

How their faith encourages them, how their faith is their
foundation and how their faith is based on the love of Christ.
In an essay format between 300 and 700 words children,
youth, teens and young adults will share how their faith is
helping them through this pandemic.

For the ages 5 to 12 if creative pictures will work better they
are encouraged through drawings to share their faith to
empower other children, youth, teens and  young adults.

The requirements are information is submitted from parents
email only, not the child’s. No emails will be sold or shared
with others in any way:

1. First name only of writer
2. Age of writer
3. What continent do they live on
4. Name of the Church of Christ Ministry
5. Name of senior minister / evangelist
6. Their writing that they are submitting or photograph in jpeg format.

Email information to:
The writings will be placed on a page dedicated to
Seven Continents of Faith with only the information provided.
