Weaponizing your voice
Weaponizing your voice

Digital content is adaptable and inclusive to text, video and
audio content. The value of the content is its ability to empower
and inspire others. To open the mind to the potential to reach
and teach broader audiences and encourage collaborations
and allowing journalistic tools to be applied.

As a past higher education instructor I would have my students
think on a global scale and have a global perspective of the
world. They have knowledge that should be shared to build
connections and collaborations. Not to encourage separation
and ignorance. Unfortunately, the idea that people of color
should not and could not think on such a scale is at times
etched in the minds of children of color, this prevents them
from dreaming beyond their current positions in life especially
if the are in poverty of finances, educational access,
intellectual stimulation and cultural growth.

In the era of digital access to unparalleled informational platforms,
services, resources. news, and unprecedented cultural connections
there should not be a waste of time on mindless entertainment
or just visually appealing eye candy of pornography and
death of cultures and generations. Information that is weaponized
blinds people to embracing cultures, genders and generations.

Use of the transformative resources of digital tools can open new
doors for engagement across generational lines, gender, life-styles
and social-economic backgrounds.
In the 21st century youth, teens and young adults can grow their
digital and social skill-sets. Digital journalism allows anyone to be
a journalist and connect their passions with others that share the
same interests of positive growth and unity.

In recent years political leaders have vilified journalist and even
encouraged the killing of them. The rights to free speech, free
expression, free thinking, have been turned around to mean that
a free mind is dangerous, rebellious and devious. Weaponizing
information is a process to keep the same content in the eyes,
ears and voices to keep people from learning and applying
new learning that allows for growth, understanding and acceptance.

America is dangerously embracing a mind-set that it fought against in
World War 1 and World War 2, but now accepts similar destructive
ideologies directed to gender, color, culture, educational and economic
status. Since when it it ok to speak to women disrespectfully and
in a demeaning manner. Since when do men turn a blind eye to
slandering a women’s reputation knowing that same individual can
turn on their daughters, granddaughters or nieces. It is interesting
that men can sell their souls to keep political power at the sacrifice
of literally killing children and imprisoning them, while at the same
time denying them basic human rights. Allowing women no matter
their culture or color to be de-humanized by not providing proper
medical care, human rights and humanitarian efforts of being
clean, feed, cared for and protected no matter what nationality
they are.

The power of digital media through technologies can change the very
fabric of building relationships that can be cultivated by strategically
placing content on digital platforms.

Malcolm X statement in the early 1960’s can be applied even
today in our growing and maturing digital world. “If your not careful,
the media will have you loving those that hate you and hating those
that love you.”

AK 47 Weaponizing Words
AK 47 Weaponizing Words

Programs on Netflix, NPR, CNN and other sources of information
are showing how information is being created to influence
peoples political, religious and social consciousness. Words are
manipulated to create an emotional attachment so when heard
it is instantly designed either to change the channel, mentally
disconnect and even create anger and hatred.

Conservatism, Progressiveness, Generational, Nationalism,
Multi-cultural, Native, Hispanic, African American,
Bible-belt, Republican, Independent, Democrat and others
already create impressions that influence emotions and
subliminal messages of acceptance, rejections, respect,
comfort, hate, rebellion, and inspire execution of those
feelings to take action in aggressive manners.

The United States has its own form of radicalism in place
that may be hidden behind a smiling face, the symbols that
are in place and who people are secretively associated with.
The use of words expresses ideologies, sympathies and
connections.

The levels of engagement and relevancy of information is
vital because the public needs to understand how to apply
their understanding of applied and manipulated information
and what they will get out of it. Youth, teens and young adults
are learning now even if they are not aware of it how they
should react to people, situations, circumstances, and images
based on where the content is coming from.

Recent shootings are showing the power of digital media,
there is power in the human voice. The human voice contains
the powers of life and death – literally. When parents are told to
be careful what they name their children, when families of status
and stature look at the names of their children’s potential mates
and the influence on social status, economic power, political
influence, educational acceptance into elite educational institutions
can be influenced by names. Propaganda can be applied in
the naming of people, groups, families and organizations.

Facebook, Instagram and Tumblr use images, photos and video
to capture the mind, to create emotional attachments and project
potential futures of occurrence and happenstance. This is not new
it has been applied in ads for beverages and food, used to set an
image for automobiles, applied to social gatherings and where people
of socia-economic status should live, breed and grow old. The movie
The Great Hack https://www.thegreathack.com/
should be required watching by higher education students that
are majoring in Political Science, Social Media Management and
similar curriculum’s.

The catalyst for many deceptions, mis-directions, influences,
subterfuge and perceptions of others as historically seen is POWER,
INFLUENCE, MONEY and LIFE STYLE SECURITY.

The power in politics, the influence of religion, the engagement of
education and the depth of economic influence to have people
vote in a direction that they “think” is best for them and their
families, but in reality it may take them some place where there
is no escape and their souls have been sold by their votes.

The old story of the Kings New Clothes is being played out in the
political kingdoms globally, like lambs to the slaughter people are
not questioning the overall picture of where are we going in 5,
10, 15 and 20 years. What type of communities will we be in,
will they be culturally diverse or will it be separate, unequal,
divisive, exclusionary and hierarchical?

History will not be able to tell the truth because those in political
power write the history books. Look at Columbus what did he really
discover before he landed on lands that were not lost, but already
inhabited, cultivated, and pioneered. History has many believing this
land was lost, savage and a threat to someone else’s national
security. History is repeating itself in similar ways because we
have not learn from its’ past.

Weaponizing words has a distant echo from Hitler to Castro,
from Stalin the Trump, and other political dictators. In these United
States of America there are echos of human rights violations
against women, children, families of color and cultures.
Segregationist and nationalist language, evasive and diversity
overtones to keep cultural and racial groups separate and blaming
each other as they are pawns in a political process of
lies and deceptions.

Part 1 Weaponizing Information To Control Hearts and Minds
William Jackson, M.Ed

Weapons of War
Weapons of War

“Weaponized information is a message or content piece that
is designed to affect the recipient’s perception about something
or someone in a way that is not warranted.”

Weaponizing digital information is a 21st century strategy that
should be considered as the political process heats up in the
run for political offices. The seat of the President is not the only
powerhouse position that needs to be watched.
Senate and House seats are very important because they are
where laws are brought forth, policies and procedures are
created and alliances are made.

The use of Social Media and applying words, phrases, images,
soundbites and videos to create perceptions, mis-directions,
subterfuge and even perceptions of mis-trust and elitism are
applied daily. The power of the digital voice is being heard globally
and controlling minds, emotions and perceptions.

Weaponizing information is not new, but the use of Social Media
has grown since it’s successful application during the Clinton and
Obama administrations. Successes that speak of unity, collaboration,
the value of diversity and inclusion and the perceptions of inclusion
are shared in online chat rooms, in advertisements and with the
help of algorithms to post content on your timeline.

Unfortunately It has been applied at a higher level of disruption,
division, separation and even containing racial overtones and
innuendo in the current administration. Instead of having a
unifying goal it has become separative, divisive and inflammatory
with its’ language usage.

“Propaganda is an example of weaponized information:misleading
or biased information of a political nature that is usually spread
by governments.” Governments have alternative measures for
the use of digital information.

The 21st century of using media besides television and radio
allows for the carpet bombing of Facebook, Twitter and other
social sites to overwhelm people into submission or pacification
to follow the masses. When constantly bombarded by political
advertisements that are geared to specific groups of people
there comes a saturation point where the mind gives up and
surrenders to the powers that be and is placed in a concentration
camp of prisoners to a political party, agenda or re-education
program.

Weaponizing our content to match a specific gender, culture,
generation, race and even religion can be made with a video,
photo, graphic and influenced by musical accomplishment.
People are visual and look for connections, there is a
connection point where people will absorb information to
make it their own. Bringing life to information and bring
it into exhistance.

People are learning that algorithms can be manipulated,
profiles can be analyzed, connections can be linked to send
similar sources to create a dynamic and digital path so
everyone with similar mind-sets are lead down a rabbit hole
of submission and mind control. People are being exposed
to so much information either willingly or unwillingly they are
becoming shell-shocked by the massive bombing of content.

Using targeted systems, the saving of Twitter posts and the
potential to use this information against people should be
disussed as to the rights of free speech. Words have power
and influence as can be seen on Sunday messages in
ministries that service the financial aims of a church, but
not the commission of saving souls and keeping souls saved.

Weaponizing information is the threat people need to be
aware of and guard against. So education programs need
to be in place to teach people how to recognize messages
of hate, racism, division, and hidden agendas that lead to
separate our nation.

A dynamic and engaged opportunity to understand Branding,
creating your Niche as a business owner; the foundation
of understanding the value of digital content in relation to
business and entrepreneurialism.

Applying the So-Lo-Mo-Co Concepts
So-social Lo-local Mo-mobile Co-community uses of Social
Media platforms and tools to share content and collaborate
in dynamic and engaged projects.

Business owners should be engaged with their communities
using digital platforms that are not just used for profits, but to
apply digital tools to build relationships and influence the
thinking of the community. Engagement is key, not to change
the perspectives of the community, but to empower the
community to see what changes need to be made and
providing the resources to create necessary social,
economic and educational improvements so everyone can
benefit.

In order to have a strong and stable community, businesses
should know the needs of their communities, the challenges
that are present and how they can collaborate with local
schools, ministries and even higher educational institutions.
These connections help build partnership allow for potential
internships to cultivate new talent and new innovators
and employment opportunities for youth, teens and young
adults.

Wireless communication infrastructures are important to
build connections that open collaborations and create
connections for social, educational and economic activism.
Building a Brand and creating a Niche for business minded
youth, teens and young adults. Communities are only as
stable and strong as the generations coming up. The
community only grows with the talents and availability of
youth, teens and young adults. The issue with many
communities of color is that children of color lack
exposure and mentor-ships that guide them into innovators,
creators and dreamers. When children cease to dream
this is a dangerous sign that there is a lack of vision and
passion for future creativity and contributes to communities
dying.

Social activism in bringing people together for economic
empowerment and building the I and E of Individual
Entreprenurialism. Branding and finding that Niche to
connect with, establish a digital footprint that is relevant
and realistic in the community and city.

Community workshops are important because they will
show that people of color have a vision for their communities
of color. Offering opportunities to teach, mentor, guide and
empower others. Looking at communities across the
nation there are wonderful events going on, but they lack
mentors, experts in fields of STEAM.

Malcolm X

Malcolm X stated,
“We are not fighting for integration, nor are we fighting for
separation. We are fighting for recognition as human beings…
In fact, we are actually fighting for rights that are even greater
than civil rights and that is human rights.”
Malcolm X (Black Revolution)

Do not be scared of these words, but embrace them to
build communities of hope and purpose. Each community
is part of the body of a city, if that community begins to
die or is allowed to die the city itself weakens. Just as a
body that has eroding parts eventually the whole body is
affected.

The rights to influence the community on a path of growth,
productivity, inclusion in the economic and political process
is needed if a city is to be the influence for all.

People of color need to learn to be influencers of color so
they can increase the opportunities in their communities and
bring about a mental change of elevation and stability in
growth economically, educationally and even environmentally.
Gentrification happens over time when there is no growth,
no investments and no action to improve a community by
those in the community.

How many opportunities do youth, teens young adults see
men and women of color participate in national and international
events that do not include sports? The careers of the 21st and
22nd century are here, but kids need exposure and opportunities.
They need to participate, attend, value, engage and appreciate
new learning opportunities.

If children only see ONE side of the story they will only stay on
that ONE side. If children only see others that look like them as
labours, lower educated and lower economic status many
will accept this as normal and not try to improve their lives.
Vision is valuable, vision is memorable and vision is
generational.

Applying So – Social awareness to change in the community
using digital technologies can reach people and make
those connections. Lo – Local engagement is important
because of the influences of sponsoring, promoting and
gaining the attention of the community. Mo – Mobile technologies
that are growing and adapting for people of color and culture.
To continue to build digital infrastructures that encourage
young minds to enter into STEAM careers and grow beyond
their current economic, educational and social situations.
Co – Communities needs to see people of color that are successful,
growing, educated, employed and engaged in learning and economic
growth.
