The Growth of WordCamp Conferences Is The Growth of a Technology Community Updated……

WordCamp US is the Flagship technology conference for
WordPress with over 200 attendees this year for covid safety
protocols.
In the past there have been over 1200 attending from United States
and globally were contributors, entrepreneurs, business owners
and educational enthusiasts can express their passion for web
development, graphic design, coding, content creation and other
components related to the industry of technology.

Supporting the idea that “content is King and engagement is
Queen,  in a global community where technology is welcomed
and used as a mechanism for peace, inspiration, education,
bridging the digital divide and empowering youth, teens and
young adults to be producers of diverse digital content not
just consumers.

WordCamp US has not been held since 2019 as the world was
hit tragically with the pandemic. The unity of shared passions
and interests in technology has inspired the WordPress community
to encourage collaboration and community. WordPress is built on
the spirit and support of collaboration and how community can
inspire people to democratize and decentralize the web. The
moto; “code is poetry” is an inspiration for being creative and
innovative.

To better understand the WordCamp community, WordCamps
are informal, community-organized conferences that are developed
by WordPress.  Everyone is appreciated, invited to engage, help
build the community of WordPress in establishing WordCamp
conferences and continued with Meetups that grow the community
though networking and trainings.

Having shared passions, sharing ideas, and allowing the globally
community to help build and empower communities and individuals.
The changes in technology can empower people, enlighten people to
future careers, entrepreneurial opportunities and even connecting
with others to start a business.

Viewing the WordCamp Central site (https://central.wordcamp.org/)
provides information that can provide a vision for growth, a purpose
for engagement, a sight for representation with groups like Black Press
(https://blackpresswp.com/) that provides Black and Brown people a
connection that addresses under-represented communities. Groups
like Women in WordPress is a bi-monthly podcast featuring women
who blog, design, develop, and more in the WordPress community
(https://womeninwp.com/)

WordCamps are showing growth to their prominence and influence
they once established before the pandemic. Re-connecting people with
each other and the global communities and provide conferences,
workshops, trainings, and meetups. The growth of the Metaverse
and its influence on web development is being studied and taught by
WordCamp veterans William and Aida Jackson. Creating several Spatial
Galleries for WordCamp Jinja (https://spatial.io/s/WordCamp-Jinja-2022-62efec8a7e22f400016f6b93?share=5282385175878465231) and others
that are interested in the blending of traditional web development,
metaverse and immersive technologies.

The possibilities of bridging and breaking the digital
divide are growing with the future implementation of
Kids and Youth Camp that before the pandemic where
expanding access for youth from 7 to 17 years and young
adults from 18 to 21 years to onboard them into a supportive
and mentoring community that understands youth, teens
and young adults are the future of technological equity,
inclusivity, and fairness.

As the pandemic subsides WordCamps are coming back.
They are creating opportunities for business growth,
entrepreneurial access, re-connecting of friends and family.
The Flagship of WordPress in the United States also provides
a chance for people to engage with
Automattic CEO and WordPress founder, Matt Mullenweg
watch his video from WCUS 2022 answering
questions about the future of WordPress.

Even I had a chance to ask Matt a question about the
influence of the Metaverse upon WordPress and
Wed Development.

WordPress Meetup “Content Creation through Storytelling”

WordPress Philly Meetup

“Content Creation through Storytelling”

We’re very pleased to have William Jackson join us in
the month of February
Content Creation Through Storytelling”
William has been involved in the WordPress community
since 2010, attending his first WordCamp in Orlando,
Florida and has been hooked ever since.

Everyone loves a good story. Everyone enjoys a good
conversation that grabs their attention and makes their
brain wander to places that tug at their emotions and
imagination.
Philly is full of stories from sports to politics, to community,
to family and friends and even what the future holds for the
City of Brotherly Love.

The power of storytelling is a wonderful thing when done
with the right words, the right twist of humor, and the right
graphics. Content is still King, with Data coming a close
second, and engagement is Queen.

Join WordPress Philly as William Jackson, educator,
blogger, podcaster, Clubhouse moderator and
conference speaker shares his ideas and excitement
about storytelling with WordPress.

Liberation Podcast
Discussion on how technology, Metaverse, Altspace VR and digital spaces are shaping and molding digital evangelism.

The use of diverse technologies to promote personal
and business has grown exponentially over the course
of several years. Building relationships online is strategic,
planned and executed to obtain maximum visibility.
Being visible online is required to establish relevancy,
respect and recognition for professional and even
personal achievements.
Historically Black College and University (HBCU)
students are in very competitive career choices and
should apply their skills and talents online to increase
their visibility and employability.
HBCU students should be learning different strategies
before graduating that can get them not just a leg up,
but their whole bodies up and ready for new careers
and leadership responsibilities. Technology is more
than Snap Chat, Tik Tok, and other current or future
social media diverges.

Transitioning from Education to Business Entrepreneur:
Moving from educational lifestyles to professional
lifestyles can be stressful, uncertain, and daunting.
Learning as much as possible about how to Brand
build a Brand, Market your Brand, Market your
abilities, talents, strengths, and ambitions can mean
the difference in struggling to gain an entry level
position to starting off in midlevel positions with
leadership growth potentials and salaries to match.
As an HBCU professor and from 2004 to 2017 teaching
for the Education Department of Edward Waters College,
the oldest HBCU in the state of Florida and for NASA in
their Teachers Re-certification Program.
I have provided instruction in Educational Technology
that guides the Education students to use a combination
of low and medium tech to Market themselves.
Applying educational strategies that focus on content
that engages the community and learning interest that
potential employees on LinkedIn can see and build
potential collaboration.
Address learning and behavior strengths with interactive
online tools and networking engagements. LinkedIn is a
digital resource where HBCU students can reach out over
distances and connect with future employers, continue
their educational goals for higher educational degrees,
Internships, flexible employment and even contract work
in many areas of technology.

My Personal Profile:
https://www.linkedin.com/in/williamdjacksonblogger/
has been viewed where I have been found for higher
education positions and considered for further employment
in my area of expertise in STEAMM Education.
Science Technology Engineering Arts Math Metaverse

Even with approaching the use of tech for business
and entrepreneurialism there is a cross-instructional
piece that can be applied to business and education.
Sharing strategies that I apply in LinkedIn for personal
and business uses I hope these can be applied by HBCU
students that are seeking a new start in life or looking to
re-brand their lives to new beginnings.

Education is traditionally behind business, technology,
arts, entrepreneurial development, changes in careers.
Interesting enough the profession of education continues
to fall behind in all areas preparing students and yet
educators prepare youth to be the adults that inspire
the building of the future.
