This vibrant 2-day event, held on May 24–25, 2025,
marked the Fifth edition of WordCamp Jinja, a cornerstone
of the global WordPress community’s annual conferences
that bring together enthusiasts across regions and countries.

Organized by the passionate WordPress Jinja Meetup
Community since 2021, this year’s event drew over 200
attendees from Uganda, East Africa, and beyond,
transforming Jinja City into a hub of creativity and innovation
by the Nile.
With a theme of “Create, Impact, and Explore with WordPress,”
the event delivered inspiring talks, hands-on workshops, and
an unforgettable after-party at the Source of the Nile (Jinja).

By 9 a.m. on May 24, the halls of Jinja SSS were packed, the
energy electric as attendees settled in. Kateregga Mohammed,
the WordPress Jinja community Lead, kicked things off with a
warm welcome, setting the stage for two days of learning and
connection. He teased the diverse topics ranging from work-life
balance to virtual reality in web design and gave a shout-out to
the stellar speaker lineup, including a team from Nairobi, Kenya.
The crowd erupted when he announced the after-party, featuring
a boat cruise at the Source of the Nile.
“Who doesn’t want to see the source and cruise?” one said!!!

After the opening, attendees dug into a hearty breakfast so hearty,
some struggled to leave their seats. The first speaker, Norman,
took the stage, diving into balancing work and personal life, a topic
that resonated with the young crowd. Patrick followed, sharing how
anyone can contribute to WordPress’s open-source project, inspiring
newbies and pros alike. The highlight of Day 1 was a virtual talk by
Mr. William Jackson, streamed from the USA, showcasing technology’s
power to connect. Mr. Ndejje Moses built on this, diving into using VR
and AR on WordPress sites, spotlighting MetaverseWP potential.
He kept the energy high, handing out prizes to active attendees,
which had the room buzzing.

Lunch was a hit, especially with the Kenyan visitors, who raved about
the tasty spread. Post-lunch, CEO Mikhalife shared his inspiring journey
from healthcare to tech via WordPress, emphasizing that WordPress
is for everyone, no matter their background. Day 1 wrapped with attendees
buzzing about the practical insights and networking.

Day 2 was all about action. Attendees rolled up their sleeves for hands-on
WordPress site-building sessions. Sumaiya Nalukwago, the event’s only
female speaker, opened with a powerful talk on inclusivity in tech. Her
story of breaking barriers inspired young women in the audience.
Mr. Mugoya Hilarious followed, diving into WordPress security , while
Iyundhu Kennedy closed with tips on enhancing site design and user
experience. The day’s highlight was the showcase, where attendees
presented their newly built sites impressive creations that left everyone
in awe.

The most anticipated moment arrived: the after-party at the Source of
the Nile, just a short walk from the venue. Speakers and attendees
mingled, enjoyed a boat cruise, cut cake, and sipped drinks while
soaking in Jinja’s stunning scenery.

The event was a triumph, thanks to the WordPress Jinja community,
sponsors like MetaverseWP, Automattic, Bluehost, CyberDivisions,
and Tech Reach Africa, and partners like Google Developer Groups
and Rotary Club of Jinja City. Above all gratitude goes to the Almighty
God for making it possible.

WordCamp Jinja 2025 showed WordPress’s power to unite, inspire,
and innovate. With 43% of the web’s CMS market powered by
WordPress, events like this fuel its growth.

Basics of AI for African Youth Teens Young Adults
William Jackson MAT
CEO MetaverseWP and My Quest To Teach
TESI Educator
Triskelion Education and Skills Initiative, Lira Uganda
World Metaverse Council Metaverse Education
Program Director

The changes in technology continue to challenge the
creativity, innovation, imagination and social
standards across Africa. AI is not just for the rich, the
elite, white or those in Silicon Valley or Taiwan or
China. It is for every African who wants to change
their lives for the better. Starting with their own
community and expanding outward across the
beautiful African landscapes and waterways.
With access to free tools, global platforms, and the
will to learn, African teens and youth can become
AI creators, not just consumers.
As an educator of STEAM, AI, Metaverse, VR and
VRE along with IoT, learning never stops. There is
always something exciting, powerful, motivational
and surprising to experience. As a teacher with
TESI based in Lira, Uganda it is important to be
learning continuously.
“AI is the pen and you are the poet.” Encouraging
African youth and teens to write and be published
on platforms like My Quest To Teach
to write their future using the intelligent tools available
to them.

Learning the basics can be fun and powerful for African
youth, teens and young adults and should start with
the basics and continue to grow.
1. Learning the Basics of AI
AI might sound complex, challenging and a bit scary,
but Africans can start small and build up: using tools
like PI.ai, Perplexity.ai, Chatgpt.com/, Notebooklm.google.com/
are wonderful ways to start.
It matters that learning AI basics helps youth understand
how machines “think,” “reason,” “function” and “operate.”
AI recognizes patterns, and make decisions that help in
learning and comprehending. This is the first step to building
intelligent solutions and solving problems.
2. No Coding Necessary as the Foundation of AI to work
with AI, youth must learn to code: well not really, that is one
of the beauties of using AI. You can if you want to, but
if not no worries.
3. Wanna know where to start, start with a problem in your
community and think about how AI can help solve it. For
example, a chatbot that translates local languages or
an app that gives farming advice based on weather
predictions. How can African youth turn into podcasters,
bloggers, influencers and build community. AI can help with that……
4. AI in Real-Life Projects with youth and teens can build
AI projects that relate to their world and how their world
has potential to build Africa into a Superpower.
African farmers are using their Smartphones to predict
crop yields, detect plant diseases, or suggest watering
schedules based on the weather that the AI has access to.
5. Education is creating intelligent tutoring systems or language
learning apps to teach English, Chinese, Spanish and other
languages. Opening for global business and investments.
6. Healthcare with AI can help with diagnosis, health reminders,
and mental health chatbots that provide positive dialogue and
access to mental health resources.
7. Local Languages can be supported and archived with AI.
Trained to recognize and translate indigenous African
languages, helping preserve culture while promoting literacy.
8. Using AI-Integrated Tools youth don’t have to code from
scratch. They can integrate existing AI-powered platforms to
learn and create: ChatGPT, Perplexity and PI can help
brainstorm ideas, write code, or explain tough concepts.
9. Activity Idea: Teens can create a virtual museum in Spatial.io
like the Africa WP Metaverse site video of Africa WP Metaverse

using AI-generated content about African history or create avatar-led
AI storytelling experiences.
10. Using AI for Social Good and Entrepreneurship
African youth can use AI to solve real issues around them
and build stronger communities.
11. A growing place is Business Intelligence: Helping local
businesses analyze customer trends and manage inventory.
This empowers entrepreneurs and developing business
ownership.
12.Entrepreneurial Tip: Teens can turn AI solutions into small
businesses or freelance services, content creation, customer
support bots, and AI tutoring apps.
13. Ethics and Responsible AI use It’s vital that African youth
also learn the ethics of AI:
Understand bias in algorithms and how to make AI inclusive
and fair. Learn about data privacy, consent, and digital safety.
Be aware of how AI can be misused in surveillance or
misinformation. There is more and AI will continue to evolve,
grow, influence and help shape the intellectual, creative,
innovative and imagination of Africa.

The Importance of Metaverse Sites for the Disabled
and Handicapped in Africa
William Jackson CEO MetaverseWP & My Quest To Teach

Inclusion for the Disabled and Handicapped, access
and accessibility should be a high priority across the
beautiful continent. Handicapped and disabled youth
and teens need to be included in the progress of
building digital leaders, artists, intellectuals.
Metaverse sites are transforming how Africa will connect,
communicate, and collaborate, offering vital opportunities
for inclusion especially for disabled and handicapped
across Africa. In the context of WordCamp Conferences,
which celebrate WordPress and Web Development,
the metaverse provides a digital space or an ecosystem
where physical limitations no longer hinder participation.

Taking in context the Africa WP Metaverse, the first
of it’s kind where all the continents’ flags are displayed
proudly and respectfully
https://tinyurl.com/298xs9dm
For many disabled and handicapped people, traveling
to conference locations is physically, financially, or
logistically challenging. Africa’s limited accessibility
infrastructure can make such travel even more
difficult. Metaverse platforms eliminate these barriers
by offering immersive, interactive 3D spaces that simulate
the feeling of being at a real event without leaving home,
hospital or traveling distances away. Attendees can use
customized avatars, including those reflecting disabilities
as the tech expands and grows, to interact, present, and
network just like their able-bodied peers.
This virtual inclusion empowers disabled individuals to
share their expertise, learn new skills, and contribute to
discussions on technology, web design, accessibility,
and digital inclusion. Areas in which their lived experiences
are crucial, their participation strengthens the community
by ensuring products and content created within WordPress
are more accessible for everyone.

Hosting WordCamp in the metaverse supports language
diversity, economic inclusion, and equal opportunity.
Stated by CEO Jackson, “the metaverse is helping bridge
gaps for people living in remote or underserved areas.
It aligns with Africa’s growing digital economy and opens
doors to careers in tech for those often marginalized.”
By embracing metaverse technology, African
WordCamp Conferences can become models of inclusivity,
showing how tech can uplift every voice and ability.
This not only enhances community growth but honors
the dignity and potential of all people, regardless of their
physical condition.

It’s not just innovation it’s justice, empowerment, and
progress that continue to help “Africa Rise.” Metaverse
building across the African continent providing vital
access for the disabled and handicapped especially for
youth, teens and young adults. The rise of metaverse
technologies across Africa is opening new doors for
people with disabilities and the handicapped by
offering inclusive, immersive, and accessible digital
environments. Billions across the continent, physical
barriers often limit access to quality education,
healthcare, employment, and social engagement.

The metaverse virtual spaces where users interact using
avatars provides a powerful alternative to traditional
physical limitations. In education, virtual classrooms allow
disabled students to participate fully in lessons without
the need to travel. Tools like Spatial.io that businesses
like My Quest To Teach and MetaverseWP enable
students to create avatars that reflect their identity and
abilities, empowering them to engage with peers and
teachers in real-time. For those with limited mobility,

VR and AR environments offer the chance to explore
museums, attend university lectures, and collaborate in
group projects. Employment opportunities are also
expanding where teams are focused on project
engagement not just in classrooms, and across international
and continental lines. The metaverse allows the disabled
and handicapped to work remotely in fields such as
digital design, virtual real estate, consulting, and
customer service. There are also areas in business
and commerce, health related areas especially mental
health and personal ideologies in self-reflection.
These roles are location independent and
skill-focused, removing the stigma and limitations
tied to physical environments.

The growth of Africa WP Metaverse shows the
continued need for robust digital infrastructures
so Africans can connect, collaborate, cooperate and
build digital ecosystems. Entrepreneurs with disabilities
can build businesses within virtual platforms, reaching
global audiences and clients.
Socially, the metaverse reduces isolation, opening
digital doors for people to connect and share
experiences, ideas, hopes, dreams and expectations
for life, liberty and safety. People with disabilities can
attend events, concerts, intellectual services, and
even therapy sessions in accessible, inclusive formats.

These experiences help build confidence, social
skills, and emotional wellness. Jackson, CEO of
MetaverseWP since 2022 has created historical
environments for WordCamp Conferences across
Africa as never before. Youth, teens, young
adults and the elderly can now connect and be
removed from isolation and invisibility.
In essence, metaverse development in Africa
isn’t just about digital innovation it’s about equity.
By making virtual spaces inclusive, Africa is creating
new opportunities for its disabled communities to
thrive, contribute, and lead. As digital infrastructure
expands, it’s vital that accessibility remains a core
principle, ensuring no one is left behind in this exciting
new digital frontier.
