Empowering Brown Bear students to see themselves
as writers, authors, creators, and entrepreneurs early
in life is important and transformative to their future
selves.

Brown Bears should create Vision Books encouraging
themselves to write using Vision Books
as a powerful
tool to develop their writing skills, imagination,
creativity and confidence. A Vision Book lets students
write about who they are today, who they hope to
become in the future, and what their dreams may
look like. The narrative about Brown Bears should
not be written by others but inspired and written
by the authenticity that shows excellence, innovation,
creativity
and imagination.

The Vision Book process builds the foundational
skills Brown Bears will use for the rest of their lives.
By writing personal biographies, students begin
understanding their identities, family stories,
cultural roots, and personal achievements.

By writing their “I’Am” Affrications, composing positive
affirmations and “I Am” statements help students
build self-esteem, self-respect and a growth mindset.
Brown Bears start believing that their words hold
power, that what they write can shape what they think
and do. Writing about future career aspirations, from
engineer to scientist, artist to entrepreneur encourages
forward thinking, fosters curiosity, build a sense of
ownership in their learning and a sense of purpose.
Developing fundamental writing skills at these early
stages prepare students for academic and professional
success.

The habits they form now with clear communication,
structured thought, and creative expression will
support future goals in business, education,
entrepreneurship, and commerce. When
Brown Bear
learns to express ideas early, they become better
problem-solvers, thinkers, and storytellers.

The Art of “Vision Boards” and “Vision Books” comes
from African history of documenting and saving
historical and cultural evidence. Applied to the world
of tech and AI
the infusion of AI with
1. Value – Tagging: When you see images on your
Vision Board, your brain assigns them importance.
This process helps you notice opportunities that
align with your goals, opportunities you might
otherwise overlook.
2.  Visualization: The brain can’t distinguish between
reality and vividly imagined scenarios. When you
visualize achieving your goals, your brain starts to
believe it’s possible, creating a positive feedback
loop that motivates action.

3. Repetition: Seeing your Vision Book regularly
helps normalize your goals, reducing the brain’s fear
response to change. This makes you more likely to
embrace new opportunities and take bold steps
forward. NEA 2022

Vision Books also nurture critical thinking and
literacy through creativity. Students move beyond
simply writing sentences to crafting meaningful
reflections about their potential. For Brown Bears
especially, these activities help affirm identity, inspire
leadership, and open doors to imagining new possibilities.
The great African writer Chinua Achebe has stated that,
“until the Lion has his own writers, then the story of the
hunt will always belong to the hunter.”

The creation of Vision Books creates a vision of movement,
achievement and storytelling at a new level. Every Vision
Book becomes a tool of empowerment, encouragement,
a personal roadmap where students can look back and say,
“This is who I am becoming.” Planting those seeds of vision
and purpose in childhood ensures their words, and their
dreams, grow bold and unstoppable.

The quote of MalcolmX rings true, “Education is the
passport to the future, for tomorrow belongs to those who
prepare for it today.”

As an educator of 3 decades I have learned from the
writings and speeches of Malcolm X. Education is not
merely about acquiring knowledge; it is about equipping
ourselves with the necessary skills, perspectives, and
aptitudes to thrive in an ever-changing world. By investing
in education today, we are essentially investing in the future,
our own and that of society as a whole. We must continue
to inspire Brown Bears to build themselves into future
leaders that
their communities will need to meet the
challenges, changes and collaborations necessary to

continue educational growth, business ownership and
even the growth of commerce and trade in communities
that need infusion of investments and connections that
allow for trade and
increased entrepreneurialism
with Brown Bears.
