The Metaverse has been the big topic of many conversations
in tech and beyond in the past few years. Although many
people still don’t know what the metaverse is or how it
works. Oxford dictionary defines the metaverse as
“a virtual-reality space in which users can interact
within computer-generated environments.”

Chancellor Jackson has been building on the metaverse
since 2022 and blends these with global WordCamp
Conferences, this helps promote the conferences as
learning and engaging experiences that assist the
disabled and handicapped. Africa is benefitting
from this since 2022.

There are already many metaverse experiences available,
most of which fall into the video game category. Games
like Minecraft and Roblox are defined as metaverse
experiences, and allow interactivity on multiple levels.
The engagements are run and manages more and more by
AI or Artificial Intelligence. Many African schools are
integrating AI and Metaverse to meet the needs of
a growing digital community across the African tech
ecosystems.

There are new environments like Meta’s Horizon Worlds
are starting to launch, which are metaverse experiences
intended for users with a Virtual Reality(VR) headset.
Spatial can be used either in a VR headset, Smartphone,
Tablet, desktop and laptop technologies. The metaverse
has exploded in reality and the metaverse is just a way
to describe any virtual experience in which you create
an avatar and are able to interact with others.

Spatial.io is a rising metaverse platform that leverages
VR technology that is taking immersion to a new level.
As a creator, Spatial.io is currently the best platform
available for building spaces in the metaverse,
and will set the mark for what effective metaverse
experience is in the years to come.

Chancellor Jackson shares his metaverse experiences
across Africa in 2025.

Spatial is very accessible, it is intended for users
with a VR headset, but can also be accessed through
your desktop browser or on a mobile device.
Spatial’s accessibility helps it to address
accessibility and the disabled and handicapped,
especially those with mobility challenges. Chancellor
Jackson addresses the use of Spatial in the
world he creates to help globally those that are
not able to attend in-person, but have the flexibility
to create their own avatars and engage with others.

The Future Metaverse in Africa will influence education,
commerce, business and international trade. Advancements
in technology look to change how we do business, how we
learn, and day to day life in the next few years.
VR technology and the metaverse will both be a part
of those changes, with some companies looking to
combine the two to create an enhanced experience.

Some of these experiences are geared to Africa specifically,
to share the “soil and soul” of Africa that allows for
exchanges of information, connecting cultures and communities.
Africa has some limitations that need to be worked out, it is
the biggest step I’ve seen so far in making the metaverse an
effective experience for creators looking to build their
own spaces that authentically represent Africa and her great
diversity, environments, history and global influences.
