Becoming Collegiate Academy Brown Bears Writing and Storytelling
by Minister and STEAM Teacher William Jackson

Podcast
At Becoming Collegiate Academy, the Brown
Bears are learning that writing is more than
just putting words on paper or typing them
into a computer, it is a key to unlocking their
creativity, imagination, and confidence. From
kindergarten through 4th grade, and soon to
be 5th grade, writing helps students discover
their unique voices and share their unique
stories with the Jacksonville community, the
City of Jacksonville, and the State of Florida.
Representation matters and so does the very
words that Brown Bears speak.
When Brown Bears see their works online in
Medium and on My Quest To Teach published,
they feel the pride of accomplishment. That
pride sparks a deeper love for reading and
writing, showing them that their ideas matter
and deserve to be heard.

Minister and STEAM teacher Mr. Jackson has
plans to build a writing opportunity library
created by Brown Bears to share their creativity,
innovation and imagination. Their writing(s)
strengthens essential skills that support success
across every subject. The more Brown Bears
read and write, the stronger their comprehension,
vocabulary, and critical thinking become. These
skills naturally lead to higher test scores and greater
classroom achievement.
More importantly, writing encourages innovation
of mind and imagination. Students begin to see
connections, solve problems creatively, and express
themselves with clarity and creativity.

By nurturing a culture of storytelling and publishing,
Becoming Collegiate Academy is planting seeds of
confidence and curiosity. As Brown Bears grow as
readers and writers, they are also growing as leaders,
thinkers, and dreamers. They will blossom into
knowledge leaders, visionary writers and create a new
standard in reading, writing, creativity and history for
Becoming Collegiate Academy.
Their words carry the power to inspire their classmates,
their community, and their own bright futures in
Jacksonville, Florida and beyond.
As a minister (Launch Church Jax) the Bible consistently
affirms the power and purpose of the written word. In
Habakkuk 2:2 the Lord commands, “Write the vision;
make it plain on tablets, so he may run who reads it.”

In the case of our Brown Bears, let their imaginations
run and allow their words spread wings of power,
purpose and assignment. The verse demonstrates
that writing clarifies vision, gives direction, and
ensures understanding for generations.
Writing preserves wisdom, inspires action, and provides
a foundation for faith and learning. This goes with the
purpose of teaching Brown Bears the value of literacy.
Writing ideas, thoughts, and goals strengthens
comprehension because storytelling makes truth
personal and memorable. Our Brown Bears must be
able to speak through written stories that shape
imagination, deepen understanding of their minds,
and guide moral reflection. Reading and writing
blend and bind the mind to grasp understanding
and grow intellect.
The written word of our Brown Bears is not passive;
it is active, alive, and transformative, it contains the
culture and faith and inspiring growth in every
generation. Coming from the past and moving to
the future through generations.
