The students of Twin Lakes Academy Middle School are learning
about the future of technology and Web 2.0 and Web 3.0 tools,
the development of the Metaverse and building NFTs as future
influencers as business owners and entrepreneurs. The future is
not in the future, because the future is NOW.

Education is usually 2 to 3 years behind industry, commerce,
business and entrepreneurialism. There are standards to create,
lesson plans to formulate, book contracts to create and the State
government has to have its hands in it to either dumb down the
curriculums or make sure that the potential for learning is just
equal enough to give the perceptions of equality and equitability.

Teaching 33 years in public education and higher education the
vision of equality is blurry and looking how fundings are not
equally applied is a travesty and at times a joke. There is no
flexibility in teaching diverse student populations and many
adaptive programs are only successful because of passionate
teachers that know how to manipulate, manage and mangle
the curriculums to bring real learning.

Students at TLAM have been developing business skills by
hands-on learning activities that are project based in STEAM
class. The six STEAM classes of Mr. Jackson collectively have
over 160 students learning about business development, the
coming of the developing Metaverse, how they can use their
Art skills and talents to create a business and even buy digital
land in the form of domain names.

Students will be learning how to purchase digital land by
purchasing their domain names for their future digital land
ownership. This leads to what years ago Dr. King spoke about
for the value of education.

“The function of education is to teach one to think intensively
and to think critically. Intelligence plus character that is the
goal of true education.”  Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

TLAM students are building, designing, creating, inventing,
developing digital business cards, creating graphics that can
be made into NFTs “Non Fungible Tokens” and learning how
careers will be influenced. The world will be a completely
different place for today’s students and generations to come.

Celebrating Dr. King’s birthday, students created their own
NFTs with Paint 3D that allowed the designs to be animated.
Representing the legacy and continued influences of Dr. King
and his “I Have A Dream” speech which is still influential and
important in understanding the civil right struggles that still
are here today.

The constant discussion of “critical race”, “fact based learning,”
and even the realities of how Black, Brown, Hispanic, Asian and
other cultures contributed to the growth and development of
this nation. When most of the inventions of this nation were
created by people of color and culture but stolen by whites
is present in historical documents.

Technology and technological accomplishments are being made,
students from elementary to high schools need to be exposed
in conversations and learning so they will be ready for employment
and careers. STEM, STEAM and STREAM Education and Learning
are key and vital.
