My Quest To Teach – Digital Evangelism
Member of San Jose Church of Christ, Jacksonville,
Florida
Scripture shows that God is everywhere,
Psalm 113:4-6NIV – “4 The Lord is exalted over all
the nations, his glory above the heavens.
5 Who is like the Lord our God, the One who
sits enthroned on high, 6 who stoops down to
look on the heavens and the earth?”
Clubhouse the fastest growing audio app is taking
the internet, smartphones, tablets and other electronic
devices by storm. Rooms are available in any imaginable
areas of discussion including ministry, evangelism,
discipleship and ministerial education. God can be found
on Clubhouse and his presence is powerful!
Technology has truly latched onto ministry in a mighty
way and providing access to educational resources,
discussions, dialogues, debates and even arguments
that center around the reading, interpretation, and
application of scriptures.
The pandemic made demands that Church of Christ
ministries upgrade their Internet access with faster
access, Wi-Fi in house, incorporating streaming services,
update ministries digital platforms Facebook, Instagram,
Twitter and even using Tic Tok to encourage youth,
teens and young adults to participate in youth and
teen ministries.
Engagement, interactivity, education, outreach and
evangelism have digitally grown not just because of
the pandemic, because of the demand by people to
the inclusivity of digital tools, platforms and
technologies.
The internet is transforming from a static platform
to dynamic engagements that allows for interactivity
where digital classes are commonplace in local
communities, national lectureships and
global ministerial conferences. Even as the pandemic
subsides many Church of Christ ministries see their
influences are growing because of digital engagements.
Psalm 139:7-10 NIV
“7 Where can I go from your Spirit? Where can
I flee from your presence? 8 If I go up to the
heavens, you are there; if I make my bed in
the depths, you are there. 9 If I rise on the
wings of the dawn, if I settle on the far side
of the sea, 10 even there your hand will guide
me, your right hand will hold me fast.”
Digital tools incorporated in Web 1.0 where content
was only read, with very limited engagement, it has
grown to Web 2.0 because of the demand for more
engagement and collaborations. Where there is video
engagement, digital collaborations, cooperation’s,
growth of meta, partnerships, engagement with Zoom
and other platforms like Clubhouse.
The next evolution is Web 3.0 and the use of the
metaverse, digital services and even virtual reality
resources.
Church of Christ ministries have adapted quickly, in
some cases painfully especially where there is a lack
of knowledgeable people to execute what is needed.
The learning curve has gotten better because those
in the brotherhood and sisterhood communicate
with each other more, collaborate with each other
and have a common focus of being the best Christian
advocates while integrating diverse technical tools.
The visibility has grown locally, nationally and globally
for ministries within the Church of Christ.
Proverbs 15:3 NIV
“3 The eyes of the Lord are everywhere, keeping watch on
the wicked and the good.”
Audio platforms like Clubhouse are over 700,000
rooms created per day on Clubhouse. There’s a
Clubhouse room for just about everyone and if
there is lacking in an area. members can start their
own room.
Church of Christ ministries are moving to use the
audio platform to have their Lectureships through
Clubhouse because many members are not
financially able to attend in person and with the
variants changing with COVID many are still
concerned about the health of loved ones that
have health issues.
What better way to communicate with members
of the body of Christ globally than through an audio
app that is free, easy to use and available 24 hours
a day, 7 days a week. As Clubhouse continues to grow
at such a rapid rate and looks to be around for years.
Church of Christ ministries have a golden opportunity
to use the power of this app to share the gospel and
have powerful bible studies.
CoC ministries it may be worth considering hosting
live panel discussions and even provide discussions
for teens and young adults to share their faiths.
Churches could host small group meetings or open
discussions for people curious about faith, Christ,
prayer, how to pray, the power of prayer and other
areas. Clubhouse is becoming a refreshing alternative
to being on another Zoom meeting. No one can see
you and you can mute yourself if you’re in the
bathroom, taking care of elderly parents or children
and even traveling. The options benefit the listener
and moderators can control their rooms keeping
them safe from and welcoming.
As Christian disciples, we have a responsibility to use
the platforms and resources God has given us to advance
His kingdom. Christians once again have a great opportunity
to use a growing digital platform that is using Web 2.0 and
soon adding Web 3.0 tools that are growing into the
Metaverse. Technology is taking us into more journeys of
digital engagements and collaborations.
Hebrews 4:13
“13 Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight.
Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of
him to whom we must give account.”
There is already talk about the Metaverse and how it
will change the way Church of Christ ministries will
communicate, preach, teach and evangelize. Sharing the
gospel is going digital.
Church of Christ ministries must be aware that ministries
cannot continue to use old school mentalities in new
school digital integration to attract new members in a
new digital age, to save souls and keep souls saved.
Mark 2:22
“And no one pours new wine into old wineskins.
Otherwise, the wine will burst the skins, and both the
wine and the wineskins will be ruined. No, they pour
new wine into new wineskins.”
The Word of God is not changing just the delivery
system to reach more and bring the gospel of Jesus
Christ to the world and grow the kingdom of God.
